Dr. Paul K. Korir is a distinguished professional with a Ph.D. in Computational Biology from the University of Galway, Ireland, and extensive experience in data science, bioinformatics, and software development. As the current Director of Data Science at data.org, he leads innovative projects in data science.
Previously, Dr. Korir served as the 3D Visualisation Lead at the Electron Microscopy Public Image ARchive (EMPIAR), EMBL-EBI, where he spearheaded the development of 3D image processing software and full-stack solutions for large-scale imaging data. His career also includes roles in postdoctoral research, focusing on genomic and transcriptomic data analysis and athlete performance data modelling, and engineering positions in the telecommunications sector. Dr. Korir’s technical proficiency spans a wide range of programming languages and frameworks, complemented by his contributions to the scientific community through numerous publications. Additionally, his passion for film, theatre and teaching reflects his versatile interests and commitment to lifelong learning.
