Alexandra Pomares is Research Director and full professor at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia. Throughout her career she has been involved in the areas of business intelligence, analytics and data integration at the academic, research and consulting levels. She is currently working on strengthening the research capabilities of researchers in Colombia and the region and on the analysis of unstructured data using natural language processing techniques and machine learning algorithms.
She is part of a Colombian initiative that seeks to improve the quality of information available in the field of medical research to promote value-based medicine. Likewise, she belongs to the research team at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in CAOBA, the Colombian Center of Excellence and Appropriation in Big Data and Data Analytics. Alexandra has been a visiting researcher at the Medical University of Graz (Austria), Aalborg University (Denmark) and the University of Jaen (Spain). Alexandra studied Systems Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia), Master in Systems and Computer Engineering at Universidad de los Andes, PhD in Engineering at Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), PhD in Computer Science at University of Grenoble (France).
