Neha Malhotra Singh is an economist and applied researcher working at the intersection of data, public policy, and inclusive urban development in India. She is currently Associate Director for Research and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning at Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy, where she leads large-scale, interdisciplinary research initiatives that translate data into actionable insights for governments and civic institutions.
Neha plays a central role in developing the City Data and Analytics Platform (CDAP), a microsite to NITI Aayog’s National Data and Analytics Platform, aimed at strengthening data-based and place-based decision making for urban governance and planning. Her work spans climate and just transitions, health, affordable housing, citizen participation, and the lived experiences of the urban poor. She has led complex primary research efforts across India, engaging thousands of citizens, government officials, and private-sector stakeholders to co-create solutions grounded in on-the-ground realities. Prior to Janaagraha, Neha worked as a competition economist and consultant across sectors including manufacturing, fintech, healthcare, semiconductors, and the platform economy, advising regulators, industry, and multilateral organizations. She has also held academic roles, designing and teaching courses in economics and statistics.
Neha holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BSc in Economics from the University of London External Program. Her research has been published in international journals and presented at leading policy and academic forums in India and globally.
