Work on a variety of projects, including data linking, data analysis, report-writing, data visualizations, building dashboards, and more.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning, transforming, and linking numerous datasets received by HDC from partner organizations.
- Analyzing Census Bureau data and state and non-profit administrative data.
- Creating accessible data reports and visualizations.
- Building interactive dashboards.
- Writing data stories and blog posts.
Skillset
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree including strong quantitative analysis skills and training, preferably in data analytics, data science, social science, public health, public policy, or related fields.
- At least 2-3 years of experience (excluding schoolwork/coursework) with data analytics in a related field.
- Proficiency in Python (or another language that could allow quick learning of Python), Excel, and SQL.
- Strong analytical skills to clean, manipulate, analyze, and interpret data with minimal guidance.
- Experience working with messy datasets, which often include data quality issues, inconsistencies, and missing records, and the ability to document data quality issues and translate those issues into learning opportunities for data providers.
- Ability to conduct accurate, reproducible analyses and clearly document methods.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff and outside organizations, including data providers.
- Self-motivated, curious, and detail-oriented.
