In A Nutshell
Oversee the design, implementation, and performance tracking of the Hub’s thematic portfolio focused on Applied Language AI Programs. This includes managing funded projects that apply AI and NLP solutions to improve women’s livelihoods, inclusion, and empowerment across multiple African countries.
Responsibilities
Program Coordination and Delivery
- Lead day-to-day coordination and management of the Applied Language AI portfolio.
- Support grantees in project design, work planning, and milestone tracking.
- Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and alignment between grantees, technical experts, and Hub leadership.
- Monitor project timelines, outputs, and budgets to ensure accountability and results.
- Prepare and facilitate learning exchanges among grantees (e.g., quarterly cohort sessions).
Technical and Strategic Support
- Provide guidance to grantees on integrating gender-responsive and language-inclusive AI approaches.
- Support the co-creation and validation of toolkits and resources for gender and language-inclusive AI design.
- Work closely with the MEL team to ensure data quality, documentation of lessons, and outcome tracking.
- Contribute to strategic planning, project design, and donor reporting across the Hub’s portfolio.
Stakeholder and Partnership Management
- Serve as primary liaison for applied language AI program grantees, technical mentors, and external collaborators.
- Coordinate joint reviews, feedback sessions, and external evaluations.
- Represent the Hub in regional and global meetings, sharing lessons from gender and AI programs.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
- Work with the MEL team to apply the Hub’s Results Framework to the applied language AI programs.
- Support baseline, midline, and endline assessments and ensure findings are used for adaptive learning.
- Document case studies, success stories, and technical briefs demonstrating project impact.
Knowledge Sharing and Communications
- Synthesize evidence and learning from applied language AI programs into internal reports and public communication materials.
- Contribute to blogs, policy briefs, and knowledge products on AI for gender equality and inclusive innovation.
- Ensure consistent messaging and alignment with the Hub’s strategic communication efforts.
- Identify opportunities to share the work and work with programs and partnerships team on presenting the work
- Travel for engagement and dissemination of work.
Skillset
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing development or research programs, ideally in digital innovation, gender equality, or AI for social good.
- Familiarity with African NLP ecosystems and/or AI for social impact.
- Proven track record in coordinating multi-country or multi-partner projects.
- Full professional proficiency in English and French plus working proficiency in an African Language
- Strong understanding of gender-responsive approaches, participatory design, and inclusive innovation.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g.,Airtable).
