Jan Alvin L. Pabellon is currently serving as Co-Founder and Chief Operations and Product Officer of Smile API, a startup based in the Philippines, a position he has held since 2021. In this role, he leads product, operations, and go-to-market strategy for an API-first platform that provides identity and employment verification data, helping expand access to alternative credit data across Asia.
His educational journey includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of the Philippines and a Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship from the Asian Institute of Management. Jan also brings valuable experience in enterprise software, cloud computing, product management, and financial governance, and holds certifications spanning accounting, agile product ownership, and cloud computing.
Since 2001, Jan has built a career across e-business, enterprise cloud software, and IT strategic advisory, directing product strategy and go-to-market execution across Asia Pacific for a major global cloud ERP provider and later serving as a trusted technology advisor to enterprise clients across Southeast Asia. That range has given him a grounded understanding of digital transformation, financial technology, and enterprise software adoption — and a lasting interest in putting it to work expanding financial inclusion and enabling informed, data-driven decision-making across organizations.
Jan has also contributed his expertise as an independent board director for a regional IT solutions provider operating across Southeast Asia, and has consulted for and advised various companies on technology and strategy. He has additionally led a national community for product management professionals, expanding technical skill-building and career opportunities for members across the Philippines. Jan has also been an educator and teacher, having served as adjunct faculty instructing courses in information systems management and entrepreneurship to undergraduate business students.
