eKutir

eKutir is an Indian social enterprise group that leverages digital technology, data-driven platforms, and a decentralized micro-entrepreneurship model to empower smallholder farmers. Founded in 2009 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, by Ashoka Fellow Krishna Mishra, eKutir holds the distinction of being India’s first Certified B Corporation. Its core mission is to transform fragmented, traditional agricultural value chains into collaborative, soil-to-sale ecosystems 

At the core of eKutir’s strategy is its human-centered PIE (Participatory, IT-enabled, Enterprise-driven) framework. Instead of overwhelming remote farmers with complex tech, eKutir empowers tech-savvy local enablers as Micro-Entrepreneurs (MEs). These MEs act as trusted local hubs, extending critical services directly to the farmer’s doorstep. Through eKutir’s data-driven platforms, farmers gain access to affordable soil testing, customized agronomic advice, high-quality inputs, fair credit, and transparent marketplaces. 

To date, eKutir has scaled its operations across three continents – including India, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America – positively impacting over 100,000 smallholder farmers.
