Thomas Cherian works on data solutions at eKutir, helping build the data infrastructure that drives eKutir’s end-to-end services ranging from crop advisory and soil diagnostics to corporate farming and credit access.
His fellowship project focuses on an alternative risk scoring platform designed to bridge the credit gap for rural farmers. By integrating eKutir’s ground-level data with alternate data like satellite imagery, soil analysis, weather signals, and market feeds, the platform aims to make farmers legible to formal lenders while also tracking post-disbursement distress risk.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a Second Major in Mathematics from the National University of Singapore. He has held data roles across fintech, AI, and enterprise environments, working on financial data automation, AI knowledge systems, and demand forecasting.
