Michelle Banawan is Assistant Director for Intelligent Systems at the Learning Engineering Institute, Arizona State University. Her work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, natural language processing, learning analytics, and educational technology, with a focus on how intelligent systems can support learning, assessment, writing, and human-AI interaction.
She has led and contributed to interdisciplinary research and implementation projects involving AI in education, data-informed learning design, large-scale learning platforms, and computational analysis of student discourse and writing. Michelle also serves as Academic Lead for the APRU and data.org Social Impact Data Science Accelerator and was Academic Co-Lead of the APRU Tech Policy Hackathon.
