Responsibilities
- Participation in the Data Team’s core work, collecting and reviewing key EITI implementing country data, currently submitted through an Excel data template; including participation in early plans to automate data collection in future.
Supporting Data Team colleagues in responding to ad hoc data research requests. - Supporting stakeholders, such as multi-stakeholder groups, national secretariats, independent administrators, as well as other external data users, to access EITI data from structured and unstructured sources.
- Supporting the management and development of the Data Team’s dashboards, trackers and database, ensuring data is accessible to users.
- Participation in the Data Team’s work to catalyse the use of data published in accordance with the EITI Standard, including developing data analyses, visualisations and impact stories.
- Supporting the community of practice of EITI data users, by helping to organise virtual meetings on EITI data topics
Skillset
- Experience in software engineering, data engineering, web development, data analysis or data advisory roles is required
- Experience in data management, processing and data analysis is required. This may include software and tools such as Microsoft Excel, VBA, SQL, Python and/or R, Power BI or Tableau. Experience in other software and tools will also be considered.
- A track record of at least two years in similar work is required. Previous direct or indirect experience with the EITI is not required but would be a significant advantage.
- Strong analytical and writing skills, particularly in English, are required.
- English is required and fluency in a working language used in any EITI implementing country is highly desirable (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Arabic or Russian).
- Experience in the extractive industries, public financial management, e-governance, or financial transparency is highly desirable.
- Experience of working in an international environment and with international partners is desirable. Experience working in resource-rich countries in Africa, Eurasia and Latin America would be a significant advantage.
- An understanding of the incentives for governments to undertake open data reforms, and for business and investors to be supportive of promoting transparency/open data, is useful.
