CivicDataLab

CivicDataLab is a research lab working at the intersection of data, technology, design, and social science to strengthen civic engagement in India. The organization harnesses open knowledge movements to make public information more accessible and usable—building open data platforms, AI-enabled tools, and digital public goods that help citizens and communities participate in decisions that affect their lives.

CivicDataLab works across six focus areas: climate action, digital public goods and responsible AI, law and justice, open contracting, public finance, and urban development. Its multidisciplinary team partners with governments, nonprofits, think-tanks, media organizations, and universities to grow data and tech capacity and drive data-informed decision-making at scale.
