Grameen Foundation 

Established in 1997 to extend the pioneering microfinance model of the Grameen Bank beyond Bangladesh, Grameen Foundation USA is an international NGO dedicated to ending poverty. Partnering with local institutions across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, Grameen builds the capacity of enterprises and entrepreneurs through financial inclusion alongside technical assistance (TA). This includes customized training, mentoring activities implemented by Grameen’s staff, capacitated local teams, and Grameen’s pro bono professionals as part of its Bankers without Borders initiative. 

In 2025, Grameen and Yunus Social Business (YSB), a non-banking financial company (NBFC) that invests in enterprises in India and East Africa, officially entered into a Strategic Alliance (the Alliance). This partnership brings together two globally recognized institutions founded on the vision of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus. For over two decades, Grameen and YSB independently supported underserved enterprises through complementary approaches. Grameen, through its collaborations with financial institutions, has integrated TA for micro and small enterprises (MSEs), while YSB provides its own flexible debt financing to “missing middle” small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Together, the Alliance aims to accelerate poverty reduction by strengthening MSME growth.
