Brent Phillips produces the Humanitarian AI Today podcast covering humanitarian applications of artificial intelligence for the humanitarian and technology communities. He runs Humanitarian AI meetup groups across fifteen cities and manages the community’s volunteer projects. Brent is a former United Nations staff member and volunteer humanitarian relief worker originally based in San Francisco. He plays an active role in cross-connecting the humanitarian, academic and technology communities and in supporting AI research and development initiatives. In addition to producing the Humanitarian AI Today podcast, Brent produces the University of Pittsburgh’s Health and Explainable AI podcast and a new series covering the AI inference layer. He is a longtime supporter of open data sharing frameworks like IATI, managed by the International Aid Transparency Initiative, data repositories like the Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX) and initiatives like data.org.
