Dr. Dennis B. Batangan is the 2025 Lourdes Campos Awardee for Public Health, recognized by the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (PhiAAST). A research scientist at the Institute of Philippine Culture, he also serves as a distinguished faculty member at the Rosita G. Leong School of Social Sciences and the Ateneo School of Government at Ateneo de Manila University. Dr. Batangan holds degrees in psychology and medicine from the University of the Philippines, with post-graduate training from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
Pioneering social innovations, he co-founded the Community Medicine Development Foundation, Inc (COMMED). His dedication earned him several community health service awards, including recognition from the University of the Philippines – Manila, Nueva Ecija Medical Society, Kabalikat Cooperative, University of the Philippines Alumni Association, Medical Action Group, and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) ‘TECHNICOM GAWAD 2021’ under the ‘Dakilang Ambag sa Imbensyon at Siyensiyang Pangkalusugan – GAWAD DAGISIK’ (Outstanding Contribution to Inventions for the Health Sciences) category and also received a Bronze Medal from the Filipino Inventors Society under the ‘Pending Patent Category’ (GAWAD MANUEL GOYENA). His research on the eHATID Local Government Units (LGU) electronic health information systems and the eTriage for Social Inclusion: Navigating Out of Vulnerability Situations (eTSI NOVuS) project showcased his prowess, receiving prestigious nominations and medals for their impact. A leader in the Ateneo EU Erasmus+ MICROCASA project and contributor to the EU Erasmus+ COMPETEN SEA project, Dr. Batangan’s work epitomizes excellence and innovation in academia and health sciences.
