Neelanjan Sircar is an Associate Professor at Ahmedabad University and the Director of the Centre for Rapid Insights at Artha Global. Prior to this he was a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Policy Research in New Delhi and an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Ashoka University. His work has focused on party and electoral behaviour, welfare delivery, urbanisation as well as environmental and health policy. He has also worked with the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Punjab to study issues ranging from health policy to welfare benefits. Neelanjan’s recent book Colossus: The Anatomy of Delhi (Cambridge University Press), co-edited with Sanjoy Chakravorty, uses a combination of new survey data and novel statistical methods to analyse structural and social changes in the National Capital Region (NCR) around New Delhi. He also publishes regularly on Indian voting behavior and party behavior in academic journals and public media. His work has been published in journals such as Contemporary South Asia, Economic and Political Weekly, Perspectives on Politics, Urbanisation, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Environmental Research Letters. Neelanjan received a B.A. in applied mathematics and economics from U.C. Berkeley in 2003, and a PhD in political science from Columbia University in 2014.
