Gideon George is a Machine Learning Engineer, AI researcher, and NLP specialist dedicated to democratizing AI and preserving low-resource languages across Africa. His research spans machine translation, large language models, and AI for social good, yielding co-authored publications at ICLR/AfricaNLP, Deep Learning Indaba, and IJCAI. Notable contributions include TangaleNLP, recognized at Deep Learning Indaba 2024 and AfricaNLP at ICLR 2024, and the GeoNLP framework, which pinpointed over 100 water-scarcity hotspots in Nigeria and was accepted for the IJCAI Symposium 2025.  

Winner of the LLaMA 3.1 Impact Grant Hackathon 2024, Gideon has led AI-driven initiatives in underserved communities. Rising at Data Science Nigeria (DSN) from Research and Innovation intern to Data Analyst/ Machine Learning Engineer, he is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence at ACETEL, building on his B.Tech. in Computer Science from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University. Recognized by the Google Africa Conference Travel Grant and Deep Learning Indaba Travel Award, he champions AI solutions aligned with the SDGs. A passionate speaker, Gideon envisions an inclusive AI ecosystem uplifting communities, preserving cultures, and fostering equity across Africa.
