Data and AI have the power to change the world, but the power of this technology will be harnessed and maximized equitably only if we have the right people in place. We believe that people with a wide range of skills and lived experiences are a critical underpinning for data to accelerate progress.
Two years ago, data.org released the Workforce Wanted report, identifying the potential to develop 3.5 million purpose-driven data practitioners in low- and middle-income countries by 2032. Since then, data.org has launched three innovative approaches to drive capacity building in low- and middle-income contexts. These initiatives emphasize scalable training for local contexts, upskilling and creating demand in the social sector, and uplifting exemplary use cases of data and AI for social impact (DSI) to drive action.
Join data.org on Wednesday, September 25, for a roundtable discussion to dive deep into these approaches to developing purpose-driven data talent. Bringing together diverse industry leaders and stakeholders, this event will explore capacity building through digital learning, the global Capacity Accelerator Network, and innovation challenges. Hear from the cross-sector partners—spanning government, social impact, and philanthropy—who are building the next-generation DSI workforce to accelerate impact.
