Lance Pierce is the President and CEO of data.org. He is a board member, philanthropic advisor, former corporate consultant, and executive with global leadership experience in nonprofit organizations, startups, corporate responsibility programs, and sustainable investing.

His two prior chief executive roles include CEO of NetHope, a 25-year-old partnership between Silicon Valley tech firms and the world’s leading humanitarian relief, international development, and global conservation organizations focused on more effective use of technology for their missions. He has also been President and CEO of CDP North America, the world’s largest voluntary data platform for investors, corporations, and cities to manage performance and build action programs on climate, energy, water, forests, and supply chains.

Lance’s academic and board affiliations have included serving as Senior Fellow and strategic advisor to groups such as the Harvard Corporate Responsibility Initiative, Closing the Sustainable Investment Gap Initiative at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy, Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship, GlobalEvergreening Alliance, and the Clinton Global Initiative, among others. In 2024 and 2025, he was twice recognized with the “Power and Influence 50” award for nonprofit executives by the Nonprofit Times. He began his career as a US Peace Corps Volunteer.
