Providing both strategic leadership and day-to-day operational management for Data Funders Collaborative (DFC) while leveraging expertise in data, technology, research, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

Collaborative Management

  • Lead and oversee DFC workstreams by developing and maintaining work plans, tracking progress, and providing regular updates to the Steering Committee (SC).
  • Communicate regularly with all DFC members in preparation for monthly meetings, affinity groups, and in-person convenings twice a year.
  • Guide and support the work of the Steering Committee, ensuring seamless execution of their directives.
  • Develop and manage a shared learning agenda for membership that informs town halls, affinity groups, and in-person convenings.

Engagement with the DFC Steering Committee

  • Provide strategic guidance, recommendations, and staff support to the Steering Committee while deferring final decision-making to the SC.
  • Facilitate establishment and implementation of governance procedures, organizational roles, and the role of the Steering Committee.
  • Establish agendas for and facilitate Steering Committee meetings by providing insights, summarizing information, and ensuring alignment with broader strategic goals.

Communication and Advocacy

  • Serve as a representative of DFC, elevating the perspectives and interests of external stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Leverage professional networks to identify and amplify opportunities that align with DFC’s organizational goals and learning agenda, ensuring continued growth and impact.

Strategy Development and Management

  • Guide funders with the development of strategy, goals, milestones, and evaluation on an annual basis.
  • Identify trends in the field and synthesize opportunities for members.
  • Conduct or oversee research, and landscape reviews to refine strategic direction.
  • Oversee evaluations to shape strategic direction.

Engagement with the fiscal sponsor, Digital Harbor Foundation

  • Serve as the primary liaison between DFC and Digital Harbor Foundation, ensuring alignment and coordination of administrative functions.
  • Work with Digital Harbor staff on financial planning, budgeting, and tracking, providing recommendations while ensuring that final decisions align with the Steering Committee’s direction.
  • Support the stewardship of DFC resources by providing analysis and recommendations at the Steering Committee’s discretion.

Skillset

  • 10+ years experience in roles directly facing or adjacent to philanthropy involving data collection, use, analysis, or advocacy in the social sector (education, healthcare, criminal justice, and/or workforce development).
  • 5+ years engaging with senior leadership and/or Boards of Directors to drive toward consensus.
  • Track record of successfully socializing and implementing new initiatives/projects to a diverse group of stakeholders for adoption.
  • Experience developing and leading learning, sensemaking, and networking sessions with adults, including planning multi-day events with senior leaders in the social sector.
  • A proven track record of championing equity and inclusivity.
  • Experience forming and scaling networks.
  • Ability to build relationships quickly across lines of difference and drive diverse groups of stakeholders toward consensus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with a specific focus on communicating across diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Ability to facilitate open and constructive dialogue that respects and builds on differences across groups.
  • Analytical and pragmatic approach to balancing big-picture strategy and executing details.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities across groups in a growing and evolving environment.
  • Effective leadership, critical thinking, and adept problem solving.
  • Adaptability through a flexible, open-minded, yet assertive attitude.
  • Ability to successfully work independently, including managing multiple projects and deadlines and proactively identifying and completing tasks.
  • Outstanding organization and attention to detail; ability to manage logistics of multiple projects.
  • Ability to synthesize information across diverse technology domains, including AI and other emerging data technologies, and guide DFC members in applying this knowledge to collaborative efforts.
  • Preferred experience leading teams and managing/developing others.
