Oversee centralized data strategy and collection for the sustainability team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production of ESG regulatory disclosures in line with group and legal entity obligations to ensure proper alignment to BNY policies, controls, and procedures.
  • Closely collaborates with colleagues in finance, 2LOD (Risk and Compliance), and 3LOD (Internal Audit).
  • Uphold proper documentation protocols, control frameworks, and reporting structures in line with BNY Controllership standards throughout the disclosure production process.
  • Set a standard of practice and partnering with internal stakeholders to manage data quality and integration.
  • Manage matrixed reviews from key enterprise-level and legal entity-level disclosures, providing oversight of language consistency, disclosure levels in line with stakeholder expectations and regulatory obligations, and cross-market sensitivities.
  • Oversee financed emissions measurement and methodologies in line with regulatory disclosure obligations and manage internal controls and audit readiness of the data.
  • Work with the Operational Sustainability team to facilitate matrixed oversight of operational emissions measurement and controls.
  • Maintains expertise in industry best practices and emerging frameworks and protocols to support interoperability of BNY’s approach to sustainability disclosures.

Skillset

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or other advanced degree in relevant field a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial services: accounting, internal audit, controls, and/or ESG / sustainability; background in a controllership function strongly preferred.
  • Technical, quantitative expert who can collect, manage, and interpret large amounts of data with precision and accuracy, including working with third-party data sets (e.g., S&P) and reporting platforms (e.g., Workiva).
  • Strong grounding in carbon emissions measurement across Scope 1, 2, and 3 and guiding accounting frameworks / measurement methodologies (e.g., PCAF, GHG Protocol).
  • Track record of defining and operationalizing data standards, protocols, and processes to meet regulatory and reporting obligations.
  • Interpersonal and communications skills to closely collaborate with cross-functional teams in developing disclosure strategies for new/evolving obligations, and to provide guidance, trainings, and briefings to a diverse range of stakeholders.
