Nest Center for Journalism Innovation and Development (Nest Center) was established to support the flow of accountable information between news creators and consumers. Its research shows that the information needs of the public are left unanswered, leaving them unable to make informed decisions, losing trust in the system, and relying on faster but less trustworthy sources for their information needs. One of the key reasons for this is a broken business model in which the value proposition from news creators is more targeted towards the state — the biggest buyer or funder of media — while the public is only perceived as a tool to boost sales.
