London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

Dr. Sebastian Funk is the Professor of Infectious Disease Dynamics at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. His research revolves around statistical methods, often using mathematical models of infectious disease dynamics, applied to questions around public health. Sebastian is interested in the emergence, evolution, and spread of infectious diseases, with a particular interest in the dynamic interaction of diseases with behavioural, societal and environmental factors. Most of his current work is applied to real-time modelling and forecasting during outbreaks to aid decision making, funded by a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship and highlighted on the Epiforecasts group page.
