Han Sheng Chia is currently the Senior Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley working at the Global Policy Lab to apply big data and remote sensing technology to the most pressing issues of our time. We bring peer-reviewed-level guidance to senior policy leaders. Covering topics ranging from social protection to displacement, climate adaptation, and humanitarian crises. Prior to this, he was the vice president of Innovation at GiveDirectly. He leads the organization’s investments to drive step-function change in cash delivery to the world’s poorest. He previously led GiveDirectly’s Humanitarian practice, growing programs from $1M in seed funding to more than $100M. He has run programs ranging from COVID-19 responses in Uganda and Togo to emergency hurricane responses in the Caribbean. Han Sheng previously held roles in management consulting and tech. He is a graduate of Brown University.
