Philip Owusu Antwi

Philip Owusu Antwi is a Biomedical Scientist by training and an MPhil candidate in One Health at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), University of Ghana. His research focuses on environmental surveillance and on building mathematical models that strengthen the prevention of, preparedness for, and response to infectious diseases. His current study analyzes wastewater from selected live bird markets across Greater Accra and its potential role in the environmental persistence of avian influenza, integrating environmental microbiology, wastewater analysis, and geospatial methods.

Passionate about mathematics and data science, Philip recently completed the Modelling for Pandemic Preparedness and Response course at KNUST, organized by the German West African Centre for Global Health and Pandemic Prevention (GWAC). He is now undertaking the Epiverse Epidemiological Data Science for Africa course, deepening his skills in infectious disease analytics, modelling, and data-driven outbreak response. His broader interests span biosafety and biosecurity, zoonotic disease surveillance, and spatial epidemiology.

Philip loves to learn and to share that knowledge with others. His guiding philosophy is to become the best version of himself and to contribute meaningfully to society.
