The cultural relevance used in my classes continue to bring in a significant connection on what we as Black students experience on a daily basis – topics that we may be unknowingly ignorant to and a guided platform to develop our thoughts and encounters. In having discussions and examples that center Black people and real world issues our classroom sets a tone and foundation on how we insert ourselves where the world does not. It has helped how I engage with my learning. There is more eagerness, understanding and participation in my classrooms. It makes envisioning my future projects a lot less challenging and the outcomes feel possible.
