Kennedy Coleman is a student in the College at University of Chicago and a data science major in the class of 2026. Kennedy participated in the CAN Data Science for Social Impact Summer Experience, where they developed new skills in research, data analysis and data visualization along with students from CAN partner institutions across the country.

“Taking part in the 2023 CAN Summer Experience Program taught me, perhaps most importantly, that data can serve to better our communities. In this brave new world of growing AI and Big Data, everyone – but especially data scientists – must ensure that everyone has equal opportunity to reap the benefits of what data reveals to us. For those who enjoy working collaboratively with a team and problems focused on social impact, it is an invaluable program.”
