Role: CAN Fellow
Current organisation: Indian Scholars Programme (J-PAL SA)
I began my career as a data scientist in the private sector, where I was able to develop my technical skills. However, I felt the need to align my work with broader practical impacts. This realisation prompted a shift in my career trajectory toward social science research, seeking opportunities where I could apply data science to different societal challenges.
Working with organisations like J-PAL SA and Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), I worked on projects using both qualitative and quantitative methods to study on-the-ground challenges. These experiences gave me an understanding of how technology should be developed and implemented for complex, real-world environments, highlighting the importance of both domain knowledge and technical skills.
The IDCA Fellowship provided me with opportunities to engage directly with government officials and healthcare workers, facilitating a nuanced analysis and the development of functional technical solutions. Moving forward, I am committed to furthering my skills as a social and data scientist, with a focus on crafting solutions that are both well-grounded and effective.
